What You Need To Do

We have selected 10 images out of the environments folder. What you need to do is choose one of the images and write a description for that environment. Feel free to set it in your own world or create a new one.

When writing the description you should consider questions such as:

What is this place? Who lives here? What is its purpose? Does it have a history or a special significance for someone or something?

Once you have finished the description upload it to your DA profile and then submit the piece to the “Competition 2013” folder in the WBGuild. Submissions should be “literature”

Note: This is not a novel or short story competition. Please see our Writers Corner for examples of acceptable description submissions. If you are in doubt then please send me an email or comment below and I will be happy to explain further.

The Images To Choose From

These are the images you need to choose from when selecting the inspiration for your environment. All of the artists have kindly granted us permission to use their images for this competition; however you will need to provide credit to the artist.

Providing Credit To The Artist

When you upload your submission to our DA profile please include a link in the description back to the image you’ve used for inspiration. This will help us to judge the entries and also give the artists the credit they deserve.

Who Can Enter The Competition?

The competition is free to enter though you need to be a member of The World Builders Guild. This is easy to do - either log into your DeviantART profile or create an account and then visit the WBGuild page and click “Join”. You will then be free to submit artwork to the group.

Deadline

You have until the 30th April 2013. Judging will then take place in the month of May with the winner announced shortly after depending on how many submissions we get.

Welcome to the Universal Starmap!

The Universal Starmap has it's primary focus to list your ORIGINAL world, the places where your ORIGINAL characters and aliens live. :diny:
You can post artwork of your characters, where they live, what their homes looks like, maps, terrain, and plants and wildlife of your world.
A home world can be primitive, or high stellar. Fantasy, science fiction or both! The art and ideas of your home world can be limitless! :painter:
I hope we can create a great place for other members and visitors to explore your fantastic imagination and home world, and also to make new friends. :gallery:
IF you have a home world, please join the group and register your world. =D

Since this group doesn't run that good and the members aren't really active,  don't really spread the word or give any suggestions, I'm thinking about closing the group.

So here's my question. Should I close this group?

This is your last chance to say that this group should stay online. I really hoped you people would help me to improve it and make it grow. But after a year nothing really changed, cause nobody did anything. It seems really useless to me, even when the alphabetical idea was cool.

So, it's your decision. I'd like to start a poll, but sadly we're no super group anymore. ^^;
Hi folks :) Retromissile here.

Our group subscription ran out and I'm kinda sad about it.
Our world folders aren't alphabetical anymore and the whole design totally messed up. Besides that we don't have cool journal skins anymore.

I'm collecting points now to pay that upgrade. If you like to help, feel free to visit my account and donate some points. Hopefully we'll get enough soon. :)

So I'm asking you.

Should we think about a new way to sort our folders, since this group still isn't active enough or should we collect points to make our group a super group again?

DA offers a time limited groups subscription for 12 months. We would need 4796 points for that.

It's your decision.

besides, if you have some more ideas to make this group more active or you have some friends who can join, feel free to send invitations or make suggestions. :)

Greetings

Alien christmas

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 3, 2011, 8:35 AM
Helloooooo dear members.

Blachalkar had the wonderful idea to start a little art jam for this group.

Since some of you have their own worlds, why not telling us how they celebrate Christmas. Is it a similar celebration to Christmas or totally different? Do they even celebrate? How does it look like? Do they have an special traditions?
Draw, sketch, paint, write whatever you want. The outworking is 100% up to you. :)

Deadline is the 24. December 2011

All entries will be featured in a special Christmas blog after everyone finished. Also please make sure you submit your work into the "Christmas art jam" folder. :)
There are no prizes to win, since this is no contest. We're doing it just for fun. =D

Have fun.
